What is genichiro tenryu?

Genichiro Tenryu is a retired Japanese professional wrestler and actor, born on February 2, 1950. He is best known for his time in All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), as well as his own promotion, Tenryu Project.

Tenryu made his wrestling debut in 1976 and quickly rose to prominence in the Japanese wrestling scene. He is a former two-time Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion in AJPW, as well as a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion in NJPW.

Throughout his career, Tenryu also had notable feuds and matches with legendary wrestlers such as Jumbo Tsuruta, Bruiser Brody, Terry Funk, and The Great Muta. He was known for his hard-hitting style and intense demeanor in the ring, earning him a reputation as a tough and respected competitor.

After retiring from professional wrestling in 2015, Tenryu made appearances in various promotions and events, including a special retirement match against Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 10 in NJPW. He was inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame in 1996.
